Born in South East London, Jonny progressed through Bromley Youth Music, studying with Ray Allen and Tom Rainer. He graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with 1st class honours in 2011, and has recently completed an additional year’s intensive postgraduate course. Following on from this, Jonny was delighted to be appointed a trumpet position with the Southbank Sinfonia Orchestra, which he began in January, 2013. Aside from this exciting new project, he plans to continue making music both as a soloist and with a diverse range of ensembles.

Jonny’s experience ranges from large orchestral projects in the Barbican Hall, under conductors such as James Gaffigan and Martin Brabbins, to a series of educational workshop recitals at the Wigmore Hall. The latter was with the Guildhall Chamber Collective, a group comprising of both woodwinds and brass, which has enjoyed successful tours of the Republic of Ireland and England’s north west.

In addition to his trumpet playing, Jonny is a keen composer and has recently penned his first work for Riverside Brass Quintet, Whisper, which is to be premiered in 2013! He also founded the band Professor Penguin, with whom he has enjoyed playing festivals such as Leefest, as well as performances at Ronnie Scott’s famous jazz club in London and features on BBC London Radio and XFM. He particularly enjoyed appearing at The Secret Garden Party with them in Summer, 2012.

Like many of the other members, Jonny is a big sports fan. Having followed Wimbledon FC in his early years, he sought solace with Plymouth Argyle, but having no joy there either, has enjoyed a chnage of fortune with AFC Wimbledon!
